How can I get the motivation I need to start exercising and loose weight?
I am only 16 years old and I weigh 247 pounds. I really want to try to loose weight and I know that I need to for my health but I have no motivation to start trying to diet. Also, I eat constantly and can’t control it. What can I do to get the motivation I need to start exercising and to start eating healthier? Also, can anyone give me diet and exercise tips that would be helpful?

OMG!
i think i can help you =] well im also 16 yrs old and i’ve always been a heavy child, and i’ve been gaining pounds and pounds every year. And this January (2009) i was at my all time high, of 200 LBS!!
I saw my self in pictures, especially picture day photos, and i cried. i knew i had to do something. I looked disgusting, and on top of that i was severely at risk for diabetes (which also runs in my family), and heart attacks
And basically i made a news year resolution to loose 50 lbs! And i’ll share my secret with you!
I cut out all CHOCOLATE, SUGARS, PASTRIES, CANDIES, WHITE PROCESSED BREAD and others
and i know how hard it it, i was IN LOVE with sugar and chocolate, i used to sneak food too. But after about 2 weeks of struggling, i didn’t even want them anymore.
For breakfast i would have, whole wheat toast with a little butter for flavor, a cup of tea, and a small bowl of fruit
Lunch – at least one fruit, a big salad but you CANNOT have any salad dressing. instead i had made mine at home using:
vinegar, olive oil, salt + pepper, garlic and other seasonings (don’t over do on the salt) And drink at least ! glass of water!
For dinner i would have a big plate of lightly seasoned veggies baked in an oven with tofu (because im vegetarian) and sometimes beans, when cooking i don’t usually use canned goods because they contain a lot of sodium. Drink at least 2 cups of water!
Snacks – we all get hungry during the day, i pack a handful of almonds, about 20 and a ziploc baggie with about 10 baby carrots.
and i bring a water bottle with me where ever i go!
Also i made sure to exercise AT LEAST 30 minutes a day ( and i HATE working out)
but i forced my self, on the treadmill 9 you don’t have to run, start off speed walking, and then you’ll be able to jog: i couldn’t go 5 minutes jogging when i first began, now i can!), biking, jump rope, anything that got me sweating and in need of water!
And to beat my first two weeks of cravings, i carried around a picture my younger sister took of me, and i looked DISGUSTING in it, so every time i wanted something sweet, i took it out, stared at it until my eyes watered up and didn’t want the sweets anymore (remember if you do decide to do this, don’t let anyone see the picture!)
And my results:
starting at 200 lbs
currently 164 lbs (checked this morning)
goal 150 lbs
and i got my parents to promise me a kitten when i reach 150 lbs! im almost there!
also i recently tried on old clothes and i have a new wardrobe of clothing i put away because they wouldn’t fit!
I know you can do it, i’ve struggled with my weight ever since i was 10 (i was always overweight)

I am also 16. I am overweight also.
The thing that motivates me to diet and exercise is just looking at the mirror and myself. I hate the feeling of people calling me fat and stuff. And the feeling of not fitting into clothes I want.
So the motivation comes from witihin you of course.
I use all the insults and critiscism to start working out.
