What is the difference between a sous chef and a commis chef?

I’m looking for a job in the kitchen and constantly come across sous chef and commis chef and I am not totally sure of the difference. I know that they are both under the head chef but is there a difference? I read that a commis chef is the ‘entry level position for the start of your career as a chef’ but I thought that sous chef was the same? Also, are either of these suppose to have experience?
