Is it legal for a psychiatrist to tell this to a suicidal teenager? The point of seeing a psychiatrist would be to get well – not have every shred of hope torn from underneath you. Come on – it’s Kervorkian ethics. Are there not any guidelines for psychiatrists on what they can tell people? How is a philosophy of hopelessness going to heal anybody?

The last 5 years or so I would say that I am quite unmotivated to do much of anything besides being extremely persistent in pursuing the knowledge of truth. I’ve noticed a sudden trend forming within the last year or two which is only speeding and multiplying rapidly thanks to the discovery of our ‘mirror neurons’.
I see it coming from everywhere and I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of you reading this are going through the same thing or something similar?

The story is about a boy that grows up with a tree and starts cutting and cutting till there is only a stump, then the stump tells the little boy I’ve got nothing to offer but a place to sit. There are other details, but I have forgotten them. What is the meaning I’m suppose to get from this? Some philosophy story?
